Project Overview

Lash Box is South Africa’s largest lash online store. Irina & her hardworking team have been mainly selling their products physically, successfully building up their community over time with patience and dedication but have also decided to dive into the digital oceans to further grow their brand in South Africa and have chosen the Honey Whale Team as their desired digital partners.

They were mainly operating physically with an online store that struggled to get customers to convert & had an online store built on OpenCart but it was not designed for the user in mind, had backend & frontend issues, and did not represent their brand as well as it deserves. We started by shifting their online store from OpenCart to Shopify and began working on an entirely newer, fresher experience that truly showcased the quality of their product & it's value online.

Execution

We worked very closely with Irina & her team to make sure we stayed on-brand throughout the entire development process. Building a Shopify store may first seem straight forward but when you start to value the customer’s experience, you will have to consider a lot more factors. This is the difference between an online store & a successful online store.

We first started by breaking down the project into digestible phases so Irina & team wouldn’t get overwhelmed by the process:

We migrated all content around products, informational pages, etc. from OpenCart to Shopify.
Developed 3 total drafts of the site where everyone on both teams were able to openly express their feedback to produce an online store that was focused on user experience & generated results.
Setup automations to improve the Lash Box order management process.
Setup Google Ads account with full conversion tracking (Google Tag Manager).
Created super-power Google Ads campaigns that focuses on increasing brand awareness, remarketing, and conversions.

The Results

As soon as we went live with the new store, we had already beat their previous online store monthly sales performance in the first week.

Conversions rates shot up from 0.5% to 5% in the first full month & revenue had increased by over 660%. Lash Box hit their ZAR1 million revenue monthly goal in 3 months.
